'Re-Break' @ Turkey Trot Here's a look at an original oil painting that was captured during our Retro-Hunt with the National Wild Turkey Federation in October. The artist Ron Kleiber www.ronkleiberstudio.com mentioned that this computer image does not do justice to the real deal! New York’s first modern wild turkey hunting season commenced back in the fall of 1959. Spring hunts didn’t begin until 1968. Pete and Sherry Clare of Turkey Trot Acres Hunting lodge in Tioga County, NY wanted to honor that inaugural hunt 50 years later. In October of 2009 guests for the 18th Annual NWTF Fall Classic were encouraged to participate in a Retro-Hunt featuring our traditional Appalachian Turkey Dogs. No camouflage, blinds or decoys were permitted, hunters were encouraged wear old-style hunting togs and tote vintage shotguns to help create some real nostalgia during the event. Wildlife artist Ron Kleiber captures the excitement of a classic re-break as our canine hunting companion scatters a group of assembled wild turkeys on a beautiful autumn afternoon.......We hope to have limited edition prints available this spring!
